Incoming Freshmen

Congratulations to our newly accepted Lane Tech students for the 2017-2018 school year! We look forward to each of you joining the Lane Tech tradition of excellence.

You will receive an acceptance letter from both the CPS Office of Access and Enrollment and Lane Tech in the next few days. Please make sure that you submit the Confirmation Form to the Office of Access and Enrollment and complete the online Enrollment Form at www.lanetech.org/2021. All information that was included in your acceptance packet can be found at www.lanetech.org/2021, which is our website dedicated specifically to you, our incoming freshmen class.

Meet & Greet for accepted students will be held Thursday, March 9th, and Tuesday, March 14th from 5-7 p.m. in the Lane Tech auditorium. The presentation will begin shortly after 5 p.m., and teachers from all departments will be available afterward to answer any additional questions you may have. We ask that you please attend Meet & Greet on the date you were assigned in your acceptance packet, as we do not have room in our auditorium to accommodate all 1,000 of our incoming freshmen and their families at once. If you are unable to attend your assigned night, you may attend the other session. You do not need to call or email to switch sessions.

The online Enrollment Form is posted at www.lanetech.org/2021. The information presented at Meet & Greet will assist you in completing the online enrollment form. Please review the form before Meet and Greet but don't feel rushed to complete the form, as many of your questions will be answered at Meet & Greet. If you plan to attend the event, we ask that you hold your email and phone questions until the event, as we are currently experiencing a very high volume of inquiries. The Powerpoint presentation will be posted online for your viewing after Meet & Greet.

Lane Tech does not offer shadow days for prospective students or incoming freshmen. For information about the history of our school, visit the pages under "About us." For information about our academic offerings, visit our Curriculum Page or Digital Course Catalog.

Principal's Discretion

Chicago Public Schools Office of Access and Enrollment sent letters to all students who applied to Selective Enrollment High Schools on March 3, 2017. If your child chose Lane Tech and was not accepted, you may apply for acceptance through the Principal Discretion process. Principal Discretion allows principals of Selective Enrollment High Schools to fill up to five percent of the total seats available outside of the regular selection process. The process is conducted in strict compliance with the Principal Discretion guidelines found in the Handbook, which also provides step-by-step instructions for this process. Students do not have to decline an offer in order to apply for Principal Discretion -- they may accept an offer from one school and apply for Principal Discretion for another.

Please visit www.cpsoae.org to download a copy of the Principal Discretion handbook.

Transferring to Lane Tech

Lane is no longer accepting transfer applications for the 2016-2017 school year. Please check the website in April 2017 to find out if Lane will be accepting transfer applications for the 2017-2018 school year.

Open House

Lane Tech's next Open House will take place during the fall of 2017. Parents and students who would like more information about attending Lane Tech are invited to our annual Open House. Parents and guests do not need to register to attend Open House. At Open House, you will have the opportunity to listen to the principal speak, go on a guided tour of the building, receive an informational booklet, and be able to speak with teachers and counselors from all departments.

For additional information contact Tara Carroll at TECarroll@cps.edu.
