Lane Tech offers several curriculum options so that each student can choose classes that meet his or her individual educational goals. Many of the courses that students take as freshmen and sophomores are graduation requirements and will help students develop interests in fields of study. \u00a0As juniors and seniors, students have more choices for electives that will allow them to explore interests and prepare for college. Freshmen may take either AP Human Geography or Honors World Studies as their social science course. AP Human Geography is a college level course that moves faster, is more complex, and requires more work than an honors level course.\u00a0\u00a0Lane Tech students who score an 82% average or higher on the Reading subtests on the HSAT typically earn a passing score on the AP Human Geography exam. \u00a0Students who scored below an 82% average are recommended for Honors World Studies. Freshmen have the option of taking JROTC in place of PE. JROTC is leadership seminar with a mission to motivate young people to become better citizens and leaders. It is staffed by instructors who have retired from the U.S. Army but does not recruit for the military. We encourage anyone who has historically not enjoyed PE to consider JROTC as an option.<\/p>\n
