6/20- Lane Tech Math Placement Exam
Many incoming Freshmen have taken the Algebra Exit Exam to earn High School Algebra credit and begin in Honors Geometry as a Freshmen. We are expecting scores to be released from that exam on June 18th.
- For students that pass the exam, they will be programmed into Honors Geometry.
- For students that do not pass the exam, either because they have not taken it or because they did not score high enough to pass it, there will be a Lane Tech Math Placement Exam at 9 AM on June 20th. This exam will be ‘no calculator’ and last approximately an hour (if the student has a documented legal accommodation that allows for it, they will be given extended time and/or the use of a four-function calculator which we will provide).
A sign up link will be posted here once CPS Algebra Exit Exam results are released.
The purpose of our Lane Tech Math Placement Exam is to ensure that Honors Algebra I is the correct placement for our students. Although most students do not place out of Honors Algebra I from the Lane Tech Math Placement Exam, some do each year.
For students who were close to passing the Algebra Exit Exam or for students whose High School Admissions Test Math Score was high but they did not take the Algebra Exit Exam, we will reach out on June 18th with more information about the placement test. For any other students programmed for Algebra I, they are still welcome to take the test, but they will not receive an email on June 18th specifically encouraging them to do so.
