Are you ready to explore the world and experience new cultures? Lane Tech is proud to partner with Explorica
to offer students a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to travel abroad, discover history, art, and adventure!
These international experiences help students see the world from a new perspective, connect what they learn
in school to real-world experiences, and develop independence, confidence, and global awareness.
Program Overview:
This is an extracurricular program that takes place outside of regular class hours. There are no academic
prerequisites. Students should have an interest in travel, learning about other cultures, and representing Lane
Tech while abroad.
**Please note: International travel is fast-paced and highly structured, students are consistently expected to manage executive
functioning demands such as keeping track of schedules, remaining with the group in unfamiliar environments, managing personal
belongings, following directions, and adapting to frequent changes throughout each day.
Eligibility: Open exclusively to Lane Tech students in grades 9–11 (Freshmen–Juniors)
Upcoming Trip: Beijing, Hangzhou & Shanghai
June 28–July 6, 2027
Students will travel to China and visit Beijing, Suzhou, Hangzhou, and Shanghai. The program includes guided
sightseeing, cultural experiences, historical sites, local transportation, and opportunities to experience Chinese
food and traditions.

Important: The trip will only travel if at least 10 students register. Students who are interested in participating MUST contact Mrs. Lloyd to confirm their spot on a waitlist.
Students will be notified no later than April 2027 whether the trip has reached the required number of participants and will be traveling.
Travel Requirements
Students interested in participating should be aware that international travel requires additional documentation.
Students will need:
- A valid passport (4 months prior to departure to avoid late fees)
- To apply for and obtain a travel visa for China 1 month before departure

I value opportunities that allow students to extend their learning beyond the classroom. International travel
provides students with the chance to experience different cultures, learn about history and traditions firsthand,
and develop a broader understanding of the world.
I am excited to once again lead Lane Tech students on an international experience. Through travel, students
will have the opportunity to explore historical and cultural sites, experience local traditions, and gain a deeper
understanding of rich history and culture.
My goal is to create a safe, meaningful, and positive experience for students while encouraging them to be
curious and open to new perspectives.
Financial Assistance Opportunities
We believe every student deserves the chance to see the world. WorldStrides/Explorica offers need-based
financial aid for travelers 18 and under from households with an annual income of $55,000 or less. Eligible
students can receive $150 off their tour fee by submitting a short application and a Federal Tax Form 1040.
Fundraising Made Easy
Let’s make global learning possible for everyone! Once enrolled, students receive their own personal
fundraising page—similar to GoFundMe—but all funds go directly toward the trip balance.
