About

The Lane Library/Media Center; located on the second floor above the Main Office is a large spacious facility, with chandeliers, dark oak paneling and huge library tables, reminiscent of a college library. Many visitors come to see the world famous WPA woodcuts by Peterpaul Ott.

Library Assistants are always available to assist students and staff to find and use materials.

Policies and Procedures

Class Reservation Policy

We welcome any teachers interested in bringing their classes to the library for instruction or research. Please use the online calendar to make a reservation. Instructions are available in the Lane Tech Staff folder on Google Drive. In order to accommodate our students, only one class can reserve the library during lunch periods.

Student Policy

IDs must be worn at all times and are required for checking out or renewing books.

Students have access to the library:

Before school starting at 7:00 A.M.

After school until 5:00 P.M.

In addition, students are welcome during their lunch period. Reminder: No food or drinks are allowed in the library.

Students may also use the library with a signed and dated pass from their teachers during class periods.

Library Procedures

To Check out a book you must have your I.D. Card

OVERDUE fines are 10 cents/day per book

LOST books are the cost of the book + fines.

Library Databases

Usernames and passwords are available in the library for remote access. Access information has also been sent to students’ CPS emails.

Find news articles covering topics in government, politics, social issues, culture, literature discoveries, inventions and more from hundreds of primary sources.

Gale Virtual Reference Library

Offers encyclopedias and specialized reference sources for multidisciplinary research. These reference materials once were accessible only in the library, but now you can access them online from the library or remotely 24/7. Because each library creates its own eBook collection, the content you see may vary if you use the database at different libraries (your school, your public library, or your office).

Opposing Viewpoints

Offers an engaging online experience for those seeking contextual information and opinions on hundreds of today’s hottest social issues.
