Christmas Eve/ Sarajevo 12/24 – Performed by the Lane Tech Honors Sinfonietta Orchestra

This piece was originally written and performed by the famous Trans-Siberian Orchestra, and is a staple in the holiday season playlist. This modern song uses elements of the tunes Carol of the Bells and God Rest Ye, Merry Gentlemen. It was written by the group to represent the hope for the spirit of humanity during the bombing of Sarajevo in the Bosnian War, and is partially based off of a true story of a lone cellist playing his instrument in the rubble during the bombings. Students from our Honors Sinfonietta Orchestra (our highest level) rehearsed and recorded their parts at home, and their recordings were combined to create this Winter Concert Recording. This recording was also played for this year’s Winter Assembly.

Orchestra Teacher: Mrs. Devon Morales.
