LSC Deadline Extended

LSC Deadline Extended

The deadline to run for your Local School Council (LSC) has been extended to Wednesday, February 14 at 3:00 p.m. This means that you have one (1) week left to get involved in your school in this valuable and exciting way!

Here’s what you need to know:

  • Candidate forms are available at schools, and can also be downloaded on our LSC page at cps.edu/LSC. This page also contains information about the roles and responsibilities of LSCs, how to complete your LSC application, and candidate resources for you to use while running.
  • Please submit your completed candidate forms in person to the school where you wish to serve or take the forms to the Office of Local School Council Relations at 2651 West Washington, Chicago, IL.
  • To coincide with report card pickup, LSC elections will be held on Tuesday, April 10 for CPS elementary schools, and on Wednesday, April 11 for all high schools.
  • The term for new LSC members will begin on July 1, 2024. Parents, staff, and community members serve a 2-year term, while students serve a 1-year term.

We are happy to report that the number of candidates who have already signed up to run for their schools’ LSC is more than double what we saw at this point in the election process two years ago. We hope that by extending this deadline another week, we can build on that momentum and inspire even more students, parents, staff, and community members to embrace this opportunity to serve.

We thank you for considering this important role and hope you will encourage others in our CPS family to take this step as well by Wednesday, February 14.
