We are excited to announce that Lane Tech had seven national winners for the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards! The three National Gold Medalists are Marlon Guacara, Sadie Middendorf, and Talia Seidner. The four National Silver Medalists are Forrest Durnbaugh, Celia Fuentes, Jacob Garrison, and Samuel Johnson.
There were over 310,000 submissions and only the top 1% received a national medal. Since 1923, the Awards have celebrated teen artists and writers from across the country. Our students are part of that legacy, joining the ranks of notable alumni including Tschabalala Self, Stephen King, Kay WalkingStick, Charles White, Joyce Carol Oates, Amanda Gorman, and Andy Warhol—all of whom won Scholastic Awards when they were teens.
