Congratulations to Mr. Steve Parsons on being selected as Coach of the Year for chess at Chicago Public Schools. “This prestigious award is a testament to Coach Parson’s exceptional dedication, tireless effort, and impactful service as a Chess Coach with the Chicago Public Schools’ Academic Chess Program. His unwavering commitment to his students’ success and growth, both on and off the chessboard, has truly set him apart,” according to CPS’ Chief Chess Officer. This is Mr. Parson’s 24th year at Lane Tech teaching AP Psychology. He coached chess at Lane from 2001-2010 and 2022-present.
