This past weekend the LTAC Math Team competed in the final CJML contest. Both the 7th and 8th grade teams placed 1st at our site (2nd overall in the city). The following 8th graders received a medal: Michael Majewski (1st), Julia Matula (2nd), Anish Maitra (3rd), Miriam Gass (3rd), Gus Silberg (3rd), Joshua Wang (4th), Tiffany Kim (4th), Jack Cherry (4th), Zach Buchar (4th), and Elaine Chao (5th). The following 7th graders received a medal: Enkhjin Namuunbayar (3rd), Eoin Vaughan (4th), and Gianne Rimando (4th).
The LTAC Math Team also competed in the national competition MathCON. Only the top 2-3% of the thousands that competed nationwide qualified for the final on 4/30 at McCormick Place. The following LTAC students qualified: Gus Silberg, Jack Cherry, Harry Foster, Marcus Arzadon, Max Heuer, Aidan Olmstead, and Joshua Wang. Max Heuer and Aidan Olmstead placed in the top 50 and earned an honorable mention at the contest.
Finally, the following students qualified for the regional MathCounts contest back in March: Aidan Olmstead, Elaine Chao, Eoin Vaughan, Gus Silberg, Harry Foster, Jack Cherry, Jaime Smith, Joshua Wang, Max Heuer, Michael Majewski, Miriam Gass, and Zachary Buchar. Gus Silberg had our highest score and placed 16th in the region out of hundreds of students. The team of Gus Silberg, Elaine Chao, Jack Cherry, and Miriam Gass qualified for the state contest and competed last month. This was a great experience for our Mathletes.
It was a very fun and successful season for the LTAC Math Team. Congratulations to all of our Mathletes!
