We are proud to share a recent feature highlighting one of Lane Tech’s most historic alumni, Fritz Pollard (Class of 1912).
Before he became the first Black head coach in the NFL and a Rose Bowl pioneer, Pollard was a three-sport star right here at Lane Tech. As a “Human Torpedo” on the field and a track standout, he embodied the Champion spirit long before his professional career changed history.

Pollard’s legacy is permanently honored on our campus at Fritz Pollard Field, reminding every student-athlete of the barriers he broke and the excellence he pursued.
